Why Book trailers don’t go viral | huffingtonpost.com

Verlage, Autoren und Social Media - gar nicht so einfach... ;-)

Amplifyd from www.huffingtonpost.com

First, unless you're willing to get publicly insane, don't put all your promotional eggs in the viral video book marketing basket. Ain't gonna happen. Make it because it's fun. Make it because it's one element in a vastly larger initiative. And, if you are willing to get insane, don't put your call-to-action in the video. Either do it on a subtler level (in the description field on youtube.com) or wait until the video has been shared before adding any kind of commercial element to it.

C.G.Jung Archetypes, storytelling, marketing

ON: The 12 Archetypes

(AH - this ones for you)
The term "archetypes", as it is used in marketing today, has its origins in Carl Gustav Jung's theories. He believed that universal, mythic characters— archetypes—reside within the collective unconscious of people the world over. Archetypal images represent fundamental human desires and evoke deep emotions.   There are 12 archetypes which symbolizes a basic human need, aspiration or motivation.

In other words, an archetype is a human type in its purest form: the classic hero, outlaw, ruler, etc. Each type has its own set of values, meanings and personality traits.

Der Schlüssel für erfolgreiches Social Media Marketing

it's all about conversations...

“Marketing via social media sites means to harness the power of those users and to engage in their conversations or create conversations of your own and inviting them to engage,”

heißt es in einem von Anvil Media herausgegebenen White Paper zum Thema Social Media-Marketing. Sein Rezept, wiie man Social Media-Marketing betreibt, formuliert Hugh MacLeod auf seinem Blog Gapingvoid im Beitrag “the three keys to social media marketing” so:

  • “Figure out what your gift is, and give it to them on a regular basis.
  • Make sure it’s received as a real gift, not as an advertising message
  • Then figure out exactly what it is that your trail of breadcrumbs leads back to.”

Creativity in times of social media

    Amplifyd from blog.chasejarvis.com
Why is this important? Because I think that making stuff over and over is the key creativity. And especially the key to creativity to the next era of media. And especially for creatives. Don't be fooled. It's painfully simple. The road may be a long one, but it's certainly not complicated:

Create. Make something. A photograph, a video, a poem, a piece of software.

Share. Send your thing out into the world. Post it to your Facebook, your blog. Tweet it. (And still share it with your mom).

Sustain. Start out by waiting tables. Or keep your day job. Or shoot weddings. Or do all of these so that you can keep creating and sharing without requiring "permission" from anyone.
And repeat. Create. Share. Sustain. Repeat.Read more at blog.chasejarvis.com
